The painting reflects Ethiopian Emperor Menelik, providing protection of (and detection from) the outside world in an unknown and sacred place in the Ethiopian city of Aksum. The portrait displays this African King & son of Solomon holding a staff, standing near the cherub-adorned golden Ark.
